Birthdays when you are a parent become a little different, they mean ….

• Reminding your kids when your birthday is

• Reminding your kids that today is your birthday

• You can choose to go out and enjoy your birthday as a family outside the home, only, you’ll be the one paying

• Kids love to decorate for birthdays, only, you’ll have to do the decorating for your own birthday

• If the kids get sick on your day, know that your birthday is automatically postponed/canceled by default – I know, don’t they have the best timing!

I will be the first to admit that birthday’s are different when you’re a parent. Yes, the joys and extra love of being a parent on your birthday is undeniably amazing. But there are other realities too, I’d say, even more so when the kids are still little. Like, for instance, you’ll be reminding your little ones of when your birthday is weeks in advance, because this doesn’t seem egotistic – not at all, or that my lovely man of a husband in regards of the purchasing gifts department, well, let’s just say that isn’t his forte. So, in our years – not too many, of marriage we’ve come to an unspoken agreement that, I would buy my own gifts. Before you go on and feel sorry for me, don’t, thank you, but don’t! Because I’ve really come to appreciate myself in getting exactly what I want. There’s got to be some advantages of being the birthday girl while the children are still little!

      2. Happy 50th Birthday! 🎉 Hope you had a great day! I hope to one day reach the big 5-0, that’s amazing.
        Awe, thank you, thank you! I need much prayer Warren. I’m in the middle of pre-operative testing for a surgery I have scheduled for November 20th. I will be having my thyroid removed. It should be a relatively quick surgery – considering I’ve had two ‘big’ surgeries, including brain surgery, so this should be a ‘piece of cake.’ I’m praying so that I continue to have peace in my heart and trust that God is ahead of everything, so that I have the strength to comfort my little ones.

      It happens though right?! Ugh! Oh well, at least there’s a gift, right?! 🤷🏽‍♀️😆

      11. All Apple Watches are water resistant. You can swim, take bath. Works like a charm. Series 4 display is big. And it also can do ECG monitoring. There are other nuances. But these two are big advancement. Also I travel a lot so I took the cellular option. So now I can walk away from the phone and still be connected 🌸🌸😊

  4. Happy birthday! I’ll add to the list that you have to tell the kids how old you are. When they full grasp the birthday concept, you get to defend the “I’m not old” response that they automatically jump to.

  7. Present buying “isn’t his forte”, that’s such a polite way of saying it! Heheh. I’ve pretty much bought my own presents (from my folks) at Christmas and birthdays for the last 10 years, so I see where you’re coming from and that way we do a good job of it!

      Ohhhh, you’re too good! I don’t do Christmas for parents, and I won’t say, I end up re-gifting some when the opportunity presents itself. I mean, I accept the gifts with open arms, but if you don’t like it, I’d say, it’s acceptable to pass on the gift to someone else. No?! I hope so! Aren’t we good to ourselves – so good! Haha!

  8. Happy birthday, Ana!!

    I had to laugh about the gifts… sometimes you lady folks just aren’t easy to buy for… I pay attention all year long to my wife to get ideas. Sometimes I feel like I do well. Sometimes I’m hoping to get acknowledgement lol. Some are easier to gift than others I guess..

      I know, you can say that again, how confusing are we to shop for?! Eek! And it doesn’t even have to be a ‘thing,’ I accept gifts in form of food as well. I mean, “Cheesecake Factory” has the best Thai Lettuce Wraps – so good! You are doing so well friend, yes, that is a great way to go! Know that we’re always acknowledging, even if it is silently. 🙂

      1. I’m stupid easy to shop for. Anything I like I send to my wife lol!! So, she has a plethora of options for me. She! On the other hand, is like observing the social behaviors of amoeba! lol! I have to break down and ask her… which kind of takes away from the excitement and anticipation…
