This meme served to remind me of the fact that there are a few differences when it comes to shopping with mom versus the children shopping with dad.

Shopping in my home ….

Mom                                    vs.                              Dad

Mom: Goes off ‘the list’ – probably, every single time

Dad: Gets only whats on the list

Mom: If child gets cranky, will buy one small bag of chips

Dad: If child gets cranky, depending on the level of ‘crankiness,’ will either finishing shopping or leave the store

Mom: Budget?! ….. she tried!

Dad: Budget, on track and is adding it all up as he shops

Mom: Reads labels

Dad: You want ketchup, it’s a red bottle, I brought you a red bottle, bread is bread!

Mom: Still attempts to use coupons

Dad: Doesn’t care for coupons, to read them, none of it – too confusing

Mom: Is in a rush, goes in for one thing, still manages to get 10!

Dad: Is in a rush, goes in for one thing, comes out with one thing.

Mom: Will make up excuses for the extra purchase before getting home

Dad: No extra purchase = No excuses

Mom: Goes for the healthiest choice

Dad: Goes with the brand that has a special deal that day

Mom: Item out of stock, will ask employee for help

Dad: Out of stock?! Maybe next time!

Do you and your spouse also have a few differences when it comes to shopping for the home, would love to know! Do share!

Happy Monday!

  1. Pahaha love it! When I see some mums and dads shopping, the dad will often just sit somewhere and wait, or go out to sit in the car and leave the other half to deal with the carnage of shopping. Perhaps that’s better, to remove themselves from the situation rather than make things worse! Saying that, my dad used to be okay with shopping when I was little, it was me who’d get bored and take the car keys to sit in there patiently, even if I was only 4 at the time 🙂

    1. Haha! I’ve seen those dads in the cars waiting, often times asleep waiting for the wife to return.
True though, they know better than to walk inside the store. 😏
Haha! Oh Caz! Well, you did good, just wait till it was all over. 😊🙌🏽

  2. I buy a nice tablet of paper for my list. It stays on the counter so I can get to it fast enough to remember what to write down. My husband takes the list when he goes. Folds it in half and shoves it in his pocket!

    1. Yes! I buy the pads of paper with the magnet on the back and we write on the grocery / toiletries items that are going to be needed on our next shopping trip.
Still though I manage to go off course! He’s much more disciplined! 😊🙌🏽

    1. Lol It does count! You’re not alone! Now thanks for the smartphones, there are a few stores that have apps and coupons. There are a few stores here that have the app and I scan the items in the store to know if it’s in clearance. It’s great! 😊🙌🏽

      1. Oh that’s happened too many times. And then when the clerk tells me it’s expired, I’m both frustrated and embarrassed. 😏
But technology! Technology has come a long way, and I think soon we’ll be able to just tap on the phone and have it ready to scan at all the stores we love.
I don’t know if you have the store Target, but Target won’t offer a coupon on their app if it’s expired and better yet, it’ll tell you how many days you have to use it! 😊🙌🏽

  3. Awesome and so true! But I will read labels and get whatever I can find that’s healthy(er). And I’m not against coupons. I like to be frugal..

      1. Yes 🙌🏽 Finally got the boys room all set up. I do things a little slower but efficiently – I tend to get dizzy often. We’re having the handy man over a couple days this week to fix a few things but other than that, we’re good! 😊🙏🏽

      2. Amen! We don’t see that at the time / moment of our frustration. We become like children, impatient, intolerant and selfish. I’ve been there, too many times. But He’s so merciful, He knows who we are, knows our hearts, and believes we can do better, loving us and forgiving us, time and time again.

      3. 😊 keep moving forward! And the beautiful thing about the marriage is that you both support each other. When one gets off course, in denial, upset, frustrated etc. the other is there to pick them up.
        It’s a beautiful thing!

      4. Awe thank you amigo, such a thoughtful thing so say, or shall we say, write.
We’re all fortunate to have found our spouses and partners in life. God does truly know who is best for us to go through this journey with. Cause I am no walk in the park, beach, store, nada! Haha! 😆😊
