Nail File Friday’s: Yellow Polish + Easy Heart Nail Art

Hello everyone, isn’t it great to know we’ve made it this far into the week?! Yes – finally, Friday! I’ve experimented with some yellow nail polish this week and although it took me outside my ‘comfort’ zone, I loved it! And if all fails and you don’t like it, it’s nail polish, it’s nothing permanent – remove it and all will continue to be well.

Nail Polish Used: Essie Beyond Cozy (glitter) – I wasn’t able to find this particular one online for you, but I did find this beauty Essie: Luxeffects – Set In Stones (glitter) – Be sure to go here where I give you a simple tip on how to apply glitter polish and then I also used O.P.I Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet (yellow) for this look

Nail Tools Used: Nail Brush + Dotting Tool – Nail Brush side to clean sides of nails

This is a relatively self explanatory nail polish idea. As always, please remember to care for your nails by using Seche Clear Base Coat Polish  I painted the ring fingers and thumbs with Beyond Cozy by Essie and the rest of the fingers I went with Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet by O.P.I. I was looking for a vibrant almost neon yellow and this O.P.I color was the only one I found. If you all know of any other yellow color I may like – let me know!

Nail Polish Used: Essie: Licorice (black) and Petal Pushers (gray)

Nail Tools Used: Nail Brush + Dotting Tool – Nail Brush side to clean sides of nails and Dotting side for polka dots, Aluminum Foil and Fill up the Acetone cap with some Acetone to be able to go back and forth between nail dotting to wipe the dotting tool clean.

You can also wear these polishes as seen in the first picture – they would definitely look just as good! After I applied the base coat, I simply painted the ring finger and the thumb in the Petal Pusher color and the rest of the nails with Licorice. After I allowed my nails to dry, with a small piece of aluminum foil, I put a couple of drops of the Licorice color on the foil and dipped the dotting tool side in the color, beginning in the center of the nail with two dots and working my way out in a zig zag pattern. If you see that your dots are getting bigger even without applying too much pressure on the tool, you need to wipe it clean. Tip: the more pressure you put on the Dotter, the larger the dot will be. And if you don’t like a dot, simply dip the brush side of the tool in Acetone and gently wipe the dot clean. For the heart: I wanted a heart of my pointer finger, slightly off centered, simply put a couple drops of the Petal Pushers polish on the aluminum foil and dip the Dotter side in the color, place two dots on your nail where you want your heart to be, grab some more polish on the Dotter and drag those two dots to the center and downward where your heart will end. And voilà, you’re done!

And lastly, if you want a good laugh, go on over to Dorky Mom Doodles – because the post will only serve as a reminder on the importance of ……. base coat! Yes, base coat! 😊

I hope you’re enjoying these ‘Nail File Friday’s’ as much as I’m enjoying documenting them for you.

Have a blessed day!

Nail File Friday’s: Simple Nail Art for Girls + Rainbow of Grays

This week I’m going to also share with you what my oldest daughter is wearing, because you know, she loves nail art too! It’s easier than it looks and your girl will love it – try it on yourself too, it’s so easy! Also, prep your nails properly to ensure they don’t get yellow from polishing them, you can see which base coat and top coat polishes I use here and here for the tools I own for at home manicures. Let’s begin …

My daughter wanted pink polka dots, so in order to make the dots stand out, I placed a white nail polish underneath.

Essie Nail Polish Used: Blanc (white) and Mod Square (pink)

Nail Tools Used: Nail Brush + Dotting Tool, piece of aluminum foul to pour a small amount of the polish you will be using for the ‘dots’

It’s really so simple, first use your base coat to protect your nail, let it dry and here I applied Blanc, I allowed it to dry completely, then I got a small piece of aluminum foil and poured a small amount of Mod Square – if it becomes sticky, pour some more next to it, and with my dotting tool, I dipped it, first started in the center of the nail, creating three dots, and then on the sides creating a ‘zig zag’ with the pink polish, this made it easier to keep all the nails cohesive. Tip: You can clean your dotting tool in between polishes with acetone and wiping it with a napkin. Allow the dots to dry completely before applying your top coat – otherwise your pink dots will smear. And you’re done!

So, I wanted to try the reinforcement labels again and here are the colors that I did this week.

Essie Nail Polish Used: Good As Gold (gold) and Licorice (black)

Nail Tools Used: Avery Reinforcement Labels

After prepping your nail with the base coat and allowing it to dry, I put Good As Gold polish on all my nails, allowing this to dry I then placed a reinforcement label on each nail. You can see this post on how to properly place labels on your nail, once you have the labels nicely secured – don’t forget the sides, paint the top part of the nail with the Licorice nail polish, while still wet, remove the label and allow the nails to dry completely before applying your top coat.

Lastly, I wanted a ‘rainbow’ of gray nail shades for this look.

Essie Nail Polish Used: Any glitter shade, Blanc (white), Petal Pushers (gray tone) and Anchor Down (darker bluish-grayish tone)

Nail Tools Used: Cosmetic Foam Wedge – if you find yourself having more clear polish than glitter on your nails, take a look at this

As always apply your base coat, here I used the glitter polish for on the pinky – don’t judge the current state of this foam wedge! Eek … OK, let’s move on. If you see yourself having to apply your glitter polish too many times to count and still don’t have enough glitter – do this, apply one edge of the foam wedge, this will ‘soak’ up the clear polish and leave you with just the glitter, dab the foam on your nail, reapply and repeat the steps until your entire nail is covered with glitter – shouldn’t take too many applications. You’ll have on your nail exactly what you see in the bottle! That’s it, it’s that easy to apply glitter, who knew?! Moving on, on the ring finger I applied Blanc, on the middle finger Petal Pusher and on the pointer and thumb the Anchor Down shade. After the nails have dried, apply a top coat to give your polish a great shine!

Have a wonderful and blessed Friday!

Nail File Friday’s: Essie Nail Polish + Great Glitter Polish Tip

This week I kept it all the same, all week, I know! :: insert shocked emoji:: The little ones school year is coming to an end soon and I’ve been rather busy with that. Also, I’ve enjoyed a little early Mother’s Day breakfast yesterday morning with my Kindergartner. How excited do your little one’s get when you visit them inside their classrooms?! Children are so precious!

If this is your first ‘Nail File Friday’s’ with me, welcome! Please visit here to find my personal all-time favorite nail polishes. Also, nail tools to find my favorite tools to keep at home for an at-home manicure. This is a rather simple yet beautiful nail polish idea!

First apply your base coat – the base coat will protect your nails from turning yellow, paint your nails one color, here you see the Essie, Wicked in the dark shade and the Essie, Chinchilly in the gray shade for the ring finger. It’s to your own personal liking, but after you’ve applied your nail polish, apply some colored glitter on top of the ring finger and thumb.

Here’s a tip for the glitter: if you have a hard time getting the glitter on your nail – you know, getting more clear than actual glitter! Do this: Apply the glitter nail polish on a foam wedge or makeup sponge and dab it on your nail, repeat this until you’ve achieved the glitter look you want – the sponge will absorb the clear polish – leaving you with JUST the glitter. Easy right?! Lastly, apply the top coat to all to seal the nail polish and give them great shine.

Have a Blessed Friday!
