Nail File Friday’s: Neon Yellow + Gray Nail Art

I’ve been in search for the perfect neon yellow color, you know that really bright yellow, possibly glow in the dark, possibly border line in-your-face yellow, yes, that one! At a recent trip for new nail polish, I came across this beauty from Orly, so vibrant and with the clear top coat, it just makes it even more amazing! With nail art, the idea is not to do anything overly complicated because as a mom, I know, as beautiful as nail art is, I don’t have time for anything overly intricate. And when picking nail polish colors, get out of your comfort zone, try something new and try new shades – you won’t regret it!

Nail Polish Used: Orly Road Trippin (neon yellow) and Essie Chinchilly (gray)

Nail Tools Used: Nail Brush and the French Manicure Stickers – Mix Styles I used the thick straight lined sticker for the pinkie finger. They’ll work as an easy guide for nail art or you can use scotch tape.

Steps For Nail Art:

Step One:  1 Coat of ‘Seche’ Base Coat

Step Two: I painted all the fingers, excluding the ring finger, in gray. Allow the nail polish to completely dry – these stickers are really sticky so you need to be sure the nail polish is completely dry before you apply the sticker to begin the nail art. To achieve the angled nail art on the thumb, you can use the nail labels or scotch tape to help you achieve a straight line – remove it while the polish is still wet, clean up the sides of the nail by simply dipping the nail brush in acetone, after each nail. For the pinkie finger – allow the gray to dry completely, and then with a nail sticker, place it in the middle, pressing gently on the sides of the nail and using the neon yellow, paint over the entire nail, including the label, you can do two coats, depending the amount of yellow coverage you want – remove the label while the yellow polish is still wet.

Step Three:  1 Coat of ‘Out The Door’ Top Coat

This is optional ….

‘Cuccio’ Cuticle Oil – Milk & Honey  – Cuticle oil will avoid your cuticles from drying that can happen from the nail acetone, it helps keep your cuticles moisturized.

Nail File Friday’s: Light Blue + Gray Layered Nail Art

If you saw last weeks nail look you’ll see that this is a similar nail art, only this one is layered. I wanted to keep the same idea while incorporating something different but still keeping it all easy to achieve. The idea of these ‘Nail File Friday’s’ series is to do just that, give you easy and quick ideas that you can recreate yourself at home. As a busy mom, that’s what I’m always looking for!

Essie Nail Polish Used: Essie Find Me An Oasis (light blue), Chinchilly (gray) and Beyond Cozy (glitter) but this is the next best thing Social-Lights (shimmer)

Nail Tools Used: Nail Brush and Dotter, you can use Avery Reinforcement Labels or even tape, also try these French Manicure Stickers – Mix Styles they’ll work as an easy guide for nail art.

Steps For Nail Art:

Step One:  1 Coat of ‘Seche’ Base Coat

Step Two: I painted the ring fingers with glitter. I did the angled nail art by first applying a coat of the light blue nail polish – you can use labels or tape to help you achieve a straight line, remove it while the polish is still wet, clean up the sides of the nail by simply dipping the nail brush in acetone, after each nail. Allow the polish to dry and then apply a coat of the gray nail polish – at an angle as well, leave a tiny bit of the light blue showing to achieve the layered nail polish look.

Tip For Layered Polish: I’ve found that doing the lighter color in the bottom will allow for a better look – light blue on the bottom and gray on top.

Nail File Friday’s: Including Gradient Pink

Happy Friday! So for today’s ‘Nail File Friday’s’ I bring you some inspiration to do right at home! As a busy mom, I don’t always have time to go out to get my nails done, however I do make the time to do them at home. If you’re a mom too, maybe you can do your nails while your babies are taking a nap or maybe at night after you’ve put them to bed. With these three looks, you can change it up if you’d like, change the color, the design or do the same. You decide!

So, using any polish shades, here I used the Essie – Marshmallow (white), Mod Square (pink) and Wicked (dark). I just wanted to change the polish for the ring finger, keep things simple – or semi simple and easy. The first one is the ‘ombre’ look also known as a ‘gradient’ nail art – all this means is that you’re going to go from one color and blend out with another, using all three colors and a foam wedge or a makeup sponge, once your polish is completely dry, paint some streaks of the Mod Square and the Wicked on the makeup sponge, now pat the sponge on the nail – go over it as many times as you’d like to achieve the ombre look. Next is the easy, basic just Mod Square polish and last is doing the triangle design using the self adhesive nail tape.  after you’ve applied both nail polish shades, just take the nail tape off carefully using the cuticle nipper.

And you’re done!
